Assistant Professor
Dr. Emily Byers is an assistant professor at UMN in the BBE department specializing in ecological engineering. She grew up in Kansas and received her BS and MS from Kansas State University in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering. She received her PhD from the University of Kentucky where her dissertation was focused on assessing the impacts of nitrogen cycling in constructed wetlands in the presence of contaminant cocktail mixtures that contained pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and PFAS. She has worked for the USDA-ARS and the Kentucky Water Research Institute as a postdoctoral scholar addressing agricultural nutrient runoff and drinking water quality concerns.
